PERSONAL STATEMENT


I am a recent Networking Engineering, Security and Systems Administration graduate with a 2:1 Honors degree from the University of Lancaster, who is looking to secure a Helpdesk or Junior Systems Administration position to further develop my critical thinking skills and knowledge base within a practical and fast paced environment.

I feel as though I would be a benefit to any team as I am capable of using my skills in a versatile and creative way. My experiences have led me to become someone who is able to adapt to any situation or project. I’m flexible, reliable and great with deadlines.

    Freelance Web Development

    I began developing a website design company within the Fylde coast area. It was being developed to help myself and an associate to prevent unemployment and to help us develop our website design skills. During the two years it helped myself understand how a business runs and their day to day operations. Throughout the experience I developed my skills in time management, organization, budgeting, and developing a business through networking.

    • Took part in Small Firms Enterprise Development Initiative (SFEDI).
    • Built and maintained business relationships.
    • Developed business ideas.
    • Produced and Implemented business plans.
    • Understood the necessity of marketing and selling within a new business.
    • Developed the use of making cash flow analysis.
    • Ongoing development of networking within the IT community.
    • Developed the use of HTML5, CSS3, Jquery & Bootstrap.

    Jr Network & Systems Admin

    As part of my honors degree, I was scheduled for work based learning at Gilberts Ltd to work as a part of their IT team. I was able to work with all three members of the IT team, however I spent most of my time working alongside the senior systems administrator and took over a portion of his roles. These roles included working with colleagues from other departments to highlight and resolve networking issues, improve cost efficiency of packing and distribution by sourcing appropriate software. I also worked alongside the team by helping to move servers to new racks to make room for a new SAN that was implemented.


    Key Achievements


    • Catering towards was the implementation of networking equipment for a whole new floor of the gilberts limited building this floor was for the sales and drawing offices.
    • Sort and send the undistributed e-mails to the correct users
    • Unpack downloads for users and direct them towards the directory that the files where kept.
    • Clone the spare computers which were to be sold with Linux mint.
    • Repair the all faulty computers by reinstalling windows from a backup from a software called Acronis.
    • Create a naming convention for all of the printers and rename said printers on the servers and on the client computers.
    • Create patch cables for the switches and also patch the new cabling from the sales and drawing floor.

    Data & Finance Admin

    I joined the Fylde coast YMCA team in the role of Data & Finance Administrator based within the central support team. The main tasks included checking new leisure member’s data on the system alongside data entry into the PLUS 2 Member Management System used to manage the data of over 50,000 leisure members. The role also involved handling customer queries on a daily basis and helping to solve system issues experienced across the organisations many leisure sites. In addition to daily tasks I also supported the Sales and Marketing Team, helping with administration and organising promotional material. In the role I gained experience of meeting clients and suppliers accompanying my line manager to various business meetings. Other tasks in my remit included installing IT updates to internal hardware such as installing new antivirus software.

    • Accompanied the business development manager for meet and greets with various companies.
    • Assisted in preparation for financial audit of charity.
    • Created a number of databases and spreadsheets.
    • Traveled to leisure sites to clean down, update and install new computers.
    • Helped photograph and document various items for work and events.
    • Researched information on competitors and tenders for line manager’s work.
    • Updated website using content management system.
    • Proofreading and copy checking.
    • Helped perform the data clear down of old plus2 Database system for preparation of new system rebuild.
    • Helped with the planning process of the new website for Fylde coast YMCA.
    • Kept up to date logs of statistical data of the traffic to the Fylde coast YMCA website.

    Personal Interests


    My personal interests are woodworking, joinery, photography, watching movies, reading books and online gaming. I also enjoy building & repairing computers within my spare time and staying up to date on new arising technologies.
